This course is designed to provide a more advanced level of knowledge, skills and experience in Road Safety, to enable students to pursue a career in Road Safety Auditing. 
According to the 2018 World Health Organization (WHO) Global Status Report on Road Safety, every 24 seconds someone dies on the road, 54% of total deaths are pedestrian, cyclists and motorcyclists, and we will study why Low-Income countries which have 1% of the world vehicles but 13% of all deaths in comparison with High-Income countries with 40% of the world vehicles but 7% of all deaths. In addition to the above topics covered on this course, attendees will be given the opportunity to participate in more challenging workshops, and address more complex problems in Road Safety Auditing.

Eur Ing Miguel-Angel Serrano Santos

Miguel-Angel Serrano Santos is a distinguished Chartered Civil Engineer and internationally recognised authority in road safety. A graduate of the University of Granada in Spain, he currently serves as Lead Trainer for the International Road Federation (IRF).

His career spans over two decades across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with notable leadership roles. He has played a pivotal role in fostering cross-border partnerships among engineering professionals and has delivered Traffic Management and Road Safety courses to students and practitioners worldwide.

Dr. Eng. Wael Alhajyaseen

Dr. Alhajyaseen is currently an associate research professor at Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Centrein the College of Engineering of Qatar University. He is specialised in traffic safety, road traffic control & operation, road user behaviour analysis and modeling, traffic simulator and VR applications, and Intelligent transportation systems.
Dr. Alhajyaseen has received the Research Excellence Award from the College of Engineering of Qatar University for the Academic Year 2018/2019.

Moreover, he received several regional and international awards for his contribution in the field of Traffic Engineering such as the International Yasoshima Yoshinosuke Prize provided by the Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies in 2009. Dr. Alhajyaseen is the Chair of the “Traffic Safety Analysis and Policy” Special Interest Group SIG C4 of the World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS).

He is also Editor in the Case Studies on Transport Policy Journal (Elsevier), IATSS Research Journal (Elsevier), and the International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion (Taylor&Francis)
